About Tannus Armour

Tannus Armour protects your tube against 90% of common bike flats using 15mm of multi-cell foam. Say goodbye to pinch and puncture flats.

ARMOUR HELPS YOUR RIDE

Armour improves every level of your ride, from rim to tire.

TIRE
Armour provides additional sidewall support to your tire on hard turns. It also works with your tire to provide run-flat capability on regular tire sizes (Excludes fat tire sizes).

ARMOUR INSERT
Armour protects with up to 15mm at it's thickest point. It wraps nearly 360° around your tube.

TUBE
With Armour protecting your tube, you can run at lower PSI and increase your traction and handling or something like that.

RIM
Even your rim is protected with Tannus Armour. It will provide cushioning to the hard hits and protect against pinch-flats.

Professional Installation Recommended

Installing Tannus Armour inserts requires removing the wheel, breaking the tire bead, wrestling the heavy-duty foam insert into place without pinching the inner tube, and properly resetting the bead and axle torque. For anyone with limited mechanical experience or the wrong tools, it can be a frustrating and physically demanding process.

To ensure your setup is done correctly and safely, we strongly recommend having Tannus Armour installed by a professional at a local bike shop.

DIY approach: If you prefer to tackle it yourself, make sure you have a sturdy set of heavy-duty tire levers (standard plastic levers often snap under Tannus inserts) and a dedicated tire seating tool or lubricant.

WHAT PSI SHOULD I RUN?

Tire pressure is a personal preference depending on size of the rider and riding conditions. However, adding Tannus Armour does allow you to run lower pressure which gives better control, and comfort.

We recommend starting 5psi lower than what you normally ride and adjusting your psi up or down from there based on the ride feel you enjoy.

Fat-tired e-bikes shouldn't run too low (under 10psi) as this may not offer enough support or give the comfort you're accustomed to.

E-BIKES can run at normal tire PSI.

CAN I RIDE FLAT ON TANNUS ARMOUR?

One of the great features of the Tannus Armour is that if you get a flat during the ride you can ride a few miles without hurting your rim.* However, if you do get a flat please avoid rougher terrain.

*Does not apply to the following sizes: 20x3.0-4.0, 20x4.1-4.8, and 26x4.0-4.8.
